GLASGOW VENUE CEMENTS STATUS AS A GLOBAL CAREER LAUNCHPAD

King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, Scotland's iconic grassroots music venue, is celebrating yet another remarkable achievement in the annual Pollstar International Charts. The venue has secured its place as a force to be reckoned with in the global music industry, showcasing its unwavering commitment to fostering musical talent and maintaining its status as a must-visit destination for both emerging and established artists.

In this year's Pollstar International Charts, King Tut's has achieved an impressive ranking of 61st in the world for tickets sold. This feat is even more astonishing when considering that many venues listed in the same category boast capacities of over 2,000 compared to King Tut’s modest 300 capacity. Only two other UK ‘club’ venues surpass King Tut's position, with the legendary Barrowland being one of them.

King Tut's also secured an impressive 121st ranking in the total Gross ticket sales. This is an amazing accomplishment considering that the venue also supports and nurtures local talent through artist showcases featuring very affordable ticket prices. Over the years, King Tut's has played a pivotal role in launching the careers of acclaimed Scottish artists, including Paolo Nutini, Biffy Clyro, Calvin Harris, Amy MacDonald, Lewis Capaldi, Gerry Cinnamon, The Snuts, and many more.

The enduring success of King Tut's is attributed to the collective efforts of all those involved, from the dedicated team working within the venue itself and those within DF Concerts supporting it. The synergy of this fantastic team has been instrumental in maintaining King Tut's renowned status.

The venue's popularity among artists is further underscored by its consistent patronage from renowned performers. Artists like The Killers have embraced King Tut's as an after-show favourite, while the Gallagher brothers have made occasional visits to the venue on separate occasions, either for a casual drink in the bar or to stage intimate performances. Even global superstar Adele has expressed her admiration for King Tut's, regretting not having the opportunity to perform on its stage, citing “I’m not cool enough to play there” when she played to a sold-out crowd at Glasgow’s Hydro in 2016.

The King Tut's team acknowledges the hard work and, most importantly, the passion that has sustained the venue's legacy with Geoff Ellis, CEO of DF Concerts & Events, who own and operate King Tut’s saying:

“The commitment to maintaining King Tut's as one of the world's premier launch pad venues remains unwavering. As radio broadcaster Steve Lamacq aptly put it, King Tut's continues to be the best launch pad venue in the world. This latest achievement is a testament to the enduring appeal and influence of the venue in the music industry and, as the venue enters the future, it does so with the same determination and enthusiasm that have made it an essential part of Scotland's musical heritage.”
